LSES DELIVERS MCA 1 & MCA 3 COURSES IN SINGAPORE
Lamor Swire Environmental Solutions (LSES) will be conducting an MCA 1 and an MCA 3 Oil Spill Response Course in Singapore for Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO) management and seafarers between 11th and 14th August 2009. The two Nautical Institute accredited oil spill response courses will be held at the state of the art Swire Marine Training Centre in Loyang. 30 delegates, chosen from SPO’s global network will attend the courses. The aim of the training week is to provide SPO and LSES with an ever increasing pool of trained and qualified oil spill responders.
Based in Dubai LSES owns and operates the largest oil spill response equipment stockpile in the Middle East Region. However, for the purposes of this course, LSES will be using oil spill response equipment from Swire Salvage’s Singaporean stockpile. The centre piece for the week’s courses will be a full scale oil spill response drill in Singaporean waters. A SPO vessel, the Pacific Runner, will be used to demonstrate the deployment of oil spill response equipment including heavy duty boom and oil skimmers. The delegates on the course will witness active deployment and assist with a simulated offshore response.
The Swire Pacific Offshore group will be utilising its internal synergies to great effect over the course of the week: combining the use of the Swire Marine Training Centre with the accredited oil spill response experts of LSES, the equipment of Swire Salvage and a Swire Pacific Offshore vessel. SPO has operated in the oil and gas industry since 1975 and throughout the company’s history has been at the forefront of safety and innovation. With the expansion of SPO’s oil spill response division (LSES) SPO is once again raising the bar for the industry and illustrating the Group’s continued commitment to the environment.
