LSES PRESENTS THE DESIGN CRITERIA FOR SEAMLESS TIER 1/2/3 OIL SPILL RESPONSE AT INTERSPILL 2009
Interspill 2009 held in Marseille May 12th – 14th offered delegates the opportunity to hear and meet eminent specialists from around the world with in depth knowledge of science, technological and systems based solutions to combat oil and chemicals spills.
LSES (who joined Lamor at their exhibition stand) were invited to present a Poster on Seamless Tier 1/2/3 Oil Spill Response. The Poster summarised the essential planning elements and challenges which oil spill planners must understand and address to formulate a robust emergency response platform capable of servicing efficient oil spill response. LSES maintains that oil spill response while an expert discipline is nonetheless just another link plan to a “Parent plan” which most emergency planners call the Incident Management Plan. The Incident Management Plan must be fit for purpose and contain an Incident Management System on which all emergency link plans will rely. The oil spill contingency plan for its part must contain only that information which is unique to the aim, objectives and scope of the plan. There should be no duplication between linked emergency response plans.
The LSES Poster did generate significant interest and study. The author James Thornborough, Vice President LSES was very pleased to field questions from such senior figures as the Managing Director of NOFO and the Chairman of Interspill 2009 Bernard Tramier.
At the Lamor stand LSES received a lot of attention and questions regarding the scale of the service LSES could offer clients. The LSES service record for the last 12 months which included; Centre opening, Tier 3 response, Tier 2 support, equipment rental, equipment sales, contingency plans, practical exercises, IMO training courses, chaired conferences, and papers, fully demonstrated the excellent first year of service. LSES can now look forward to expanding and exporting those services to all corners of the world with the full backing of Lamor and Swire.
