On the evening of 14th October 2008 LSES welcomed and hosted 50 delegates to the Jebel Ali Resort and Spa for an opening dinner to the first Oil Spill Preparedness and Response Seminar held by the company.

The ½ day seminar provided shore-based managers from ports, oil and gas companies, support companies and governments an intensive introduction at:

  1. The characteristics and types of oil
  2. The movement of oil types during a spill
  3. Preparedness against spills
  4. Response during spills
  5. Remediation in the aftermath of a spill

The seminar was developed and delivered by LSES Vice President Jim Thornborough and Oil Spill Training Company’s Richard Tatner both of whom have over 20 years of experience in the industry. A range of presentations, videos and practical assessments were provided.

A similar ½ day seminar will be rolled out to all Swire Pacific Offshore crews in the new year, this will provide Swire Pacific Offshore with invaluable knowledge on how to prepare for and react to oil spills and will provide all clients with whom Swire Pacific Offshore work with, a greater peace of mind.

If you would like to know more about the range of oil spill preparedness and response courses that LSES run, please call LSES on: +971 (0)4 321 2022 or email: info@lamorswire.com.
